About the 'add on' options available on this page: We regularly receive phone calls asking, "Is there anything I might be missing or would want to add to my order that I may not know about?". To better answer this question and make your item selection process as smooth and easy as possible, we have added all of the 'add on' options pertinent to this kit right on one page for convenience. Below we will explain what they mean and hot links are provided to navigate you to a page with even more information. These options are available for the purposes of designing your own kit around your desired outcome and budget but can also be purchased separately.
(Option 1) Adventure 1190/1290 Stage Kit: This will select your intake kit stage level. See descriptions above. Only the 'Stage 1' kit requires trimming the rear velocity stack by 20 millimeters. While this works quite well for power and use, our Stage 2 option includes a more optimal TVS-80-54 billet velocity stack which is a 'Tuned' bell-mouth replacement. This would be considered by tuning engineers as a more 'proper' setup for maximizing air flow and power outputs. These can also be purchased separately if the user prefers to tune with velocity stack lengths front and rear. See dyno chart(s).
(Option 2) Comments If you have chosen STAGE 4-6, you can ask us to set up the units for you for free, an exclusive from Rottweiler Performance. This means loading maps (STAGE 4), setting up Auto Tune (STAGE 5-AT), setting up the proper ignition advance (STAGE 5-IM) or setting up everything (STAGE 6). If you don't know, let us know and if we need to contact you to discuss your options, we will.
(Option 3) Add a Second TVS-80-54 Velocity Stack: The Stage 2 and up Rottweiler Intake Kits come with one TVS-80-54 billet velocity stack for filter fitment and performance purposes. A second TVS-80-54 Tuned Velocity Stack will produce about 2 more horsepower across the RPM range and about 5 more near redline simply dropped in. If you would like to learn more about velocity stacks, see this page. An additional TVS-80-54 Velocity Stack can be added in the options below if desired.
(Option 4) Add an SAS/Canister Removal Kit: This is the first thing almost every customer does when building their performance packages. See our SAS Stage Kits to learn more. If you are installing an intake system and would like to retain the emissions systems, skip this option and you will need to install a small breather filter where the SAS valve drew air from the stock air-box available here.
(Option 5) Adding a Dynojet map switch to stage 4 and above will allow for dual maps or to toggle Auto Tune on or off: With the addition of a Powercommander V, adding a map switch will allow for the use of two totally separate fuel maps that can be toggled back and forth with this switch while the bike is running. If using Auto Tune, this switch is no longer allowed for dual maps (Auto Tune will just keep trying to correct them) and is re-purposed to turn Auto Tune on or off which can be useful for different reasons. Learn more.
(Option 6) Pre filters make cleaning a snap. Would you like to add any to this order?: All intake kits for the KTM Adventure 1050-1290 come with one 60 cel pre filter. With this option you can choose to add more to make maintenance even faster. Learn more.
(Option 7) Stage 3 and up will disable the stock narrow band O2s. Would you like a pair of 12mm O2 plugs so you can remove them?: The stock narrow band O2's (the things that look like spark plugs in your exhaust tubes) are unplugged from stage 3 and up and no longer serve any purpose. They can be kept on the bike or swapped out with these O2 plugs for a cleaner look. Learn more.
(Option 8) Would you like to add a No Toil maintenance kit? (2-3 oilings/cleanings): These do not come pre oiled for international shipping purposes. We recommend any name brand biodegradable oil designed for foam. If you have some, great. If not, you may easily add some here. Learn more.
(Option 9) Feedback: Is this page informative enough for you to make a good decision?
We know staring at all of those pieces of plastic and bolts can leave some KTM Adventure 1190/1290 owners scratching their heads but fear not!, Rottweiler Performance is here to help in this short but very informative 'How To' video.
This product carries a 1 year warranty against defects in materials and craftsmanship.

wow what a difference !! complete personality change , way more responsive and feels like it pulls stronger all the way through from idle up ! loud intake noise though that would be the only drawback possibly I see thus far but a small price to pay in all

Straight forward installation and easy to use. Installed with the Arrow headers, PCV and Auto Tune. No codes or issues out of the box on a 2017 KTM SAR.

Very High Quality products! Easy installation. Performance gains are Excellent! Thanks Rotwieller for the Great Work!

This upgrade is just what all big twins need. The airbox is great quality and the fitment was spot on. Removing all the tubes & emission has greatly improved the 'cleanliness' of the bike which is always nice. I would highly recommend this to all who have KTM.

1290 SAS that’s dialed in like a well tuned track bike. Stage 6 with an Arrow header. Two and a half months, 7,000 miles, and not a single problem. The 1290 is a great motor to start with and this is the best I’ve ever had a road bike run and respond. I’ve had many road bikes, many brands, and have worked on everyone of them. Thank you.

A bit louder under load but nothing to be bothered by...especially as you’ll be smiling from all the extra power! Much better feel in low rpm range. Well designed with great instruction; a bargain when considering the benefits!

Very well designed kit, the intake sound is dramatically louder under load(FYI) idle & throttle response is smoother through the Rpm range, noticeable power increase and works as advertised.
very good upgrade for the $.

After doing the stage 3 intake and SAS removal to my 1290 SAR, the bike ran smoother right off the bottom. I was mainly looking for a reliable air filter more than anything but also noticed power gains from bottom to top. Wheelies are easier in 3rd gear now. Before the bike was unhappy in 6th gear down around 55-60 mph, but now there is no problem and smooth with plenty of power to pull without down shifting... or go full hooligan drop to 2nd and 3rd and wheelie or slide out of every corner. Oh ya and the sound is addictive. Cruising you dont notice it but at full throttle I can barely hear my arrow exhaust anymore. I'm happy with the purchase

I have a 1190r have done all the mods Rottweiler sells was very impressed with the gains did not notice as much(due to slowly buying the upgrades)till I started to build a 1090 for my son and rode the two bikes like night and day. Have also called for help on a few things and the guys are super helpful just a great company very happy

First let me begin with, if I could rate higher than 5 stars, I would easily. I (after bugging Chris and others at Rottweiler with questions), ordered the Stage 3 system, with the extra velocity stack and dongles, Full SAS and can removal. To say there was a difference would be an understatement. As I am a research type guy, it didnt take long to figure out that the Rottweiler systems are the best on the market for your KTMs for a reason. Directions were straight forward, and the installations very smooth. I did call during the tygon hose addition (just to make sure I didnt mess anything up), and recieved quick and efficient help to keep moving forward.
Bike performance was immediate, smoothed out the entire bottom end, created a smoother and effortless throttle response, and overall more aggressive and performance based feel.
I definately recommend getting the NO TOIL sets and extra prescreens for filters. I run alot of gravel and dirt trails, constantly eating and getting coated in dust, and when doing my checks, have never had the intakes cleaner. Is definately a testament to the folks doing the engineering at Rottweiler.
As Im from Edmonton, Alberta Canada, Im not exactly next door to the Rottweiler shop, and yet everytime Ive called (which is probably too often..lol..), have always been treated like I was there, professionally, friendly, and definately sorting me out into the right direction. Im looking forward to calling as I get ready to add the PCV, tuner, header and switch....am so excited!!
Lastly as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, was pleasently surprised, and appreciated the coverage and discount applied as a serving military member. I will always be a repeat customer amd stalwart supporter for Rottweiler Performance. They are truely the company to lean on when adding to your KTM, on either side of the border, or around the world as far as Im concerned.
These folks there are "Ready to Race"...Thanks to all the Rottweiler family for the continued help and support to my 1190R here in Canada. Look forward to the next order!!

So, one caveat--I haven't gotten much ride time on this yet (about 5 hours so far), although I won't be even a little surprised if it lives up to the hype. This review is for a stage IV intake kit, with PCV and SAS removal.
First, customer service. 6 stars out of 5, seriously. I can't rave about these guys enough. This is expensive stuff, and if you are putting a bunch of mods on a KTM 1090 R Adventure, you can (and I did) basically add half the cost of the bike to this. So, lots of emails exchanged before I pulled the trigger, and Chris and Lee and others (all clearly experts at this) patiently pointed me in the right direction. Then I got the kit, started putting it on, realized they had sent the wrong TVS--no problem, had a reply to my email in about 2 hours, which was actually later than the UPS notice that I had a package coming...it's 2018, I do a lot of e-commerce, and I'm pretty used to the caveat emptor style of indifferent service--these guys, however, are making a bad-ass product and backing it up with their knowledge and expertise, and doing it with style. Mad props.
The kit--the amount of sweat and engineering that goes into this is impressive. Everything, without exception, fits right the first time. There is no modification. There is no cussing. I did the whole install (including taking the tank off, kind of a pain in the butt) in about 4 hours. I'm not a mechanic. The velocity stacks are absolute art. Each tiny little fueling dongle is soldered and shink wrapped like the wiring inside a Spaceman guitar effect (check it out--it's borderline obsessive).
The masterpiece, though, is the instructions. They come written on clearly xeroxed sheets. You can find them on you-tube. Most of them are in PDF form on the website. They don't beam them right into your skull (yet), but I found at least two sources for each portion of the install (putting the PowercommanderV in requires connecting to a specific wire in a bundle of about 20, and I had to look at the youtube vid to make sure I was getting the orange and yellow wire, not the yellow and orange wire). Follow these step by step. When it says pause here to do the SAS removal, do it. Smooth.
The end result? Immediately, the bike runs smoother, with a more linear throttle response. This is not subtle. I'm not a long-time motorcyclist, but it was obvious to me that this really wakes the LC8 up nicely. More power and grunt where you want it, not choppy at all, although the idle is a little rougher than stock (the front turn signals wiggle a little at stop lights). Minimal to moderate noise increase, but in a range (low) that is not unpleasant or harsh, and does not require earplugs even with my dirt-bike helmet on (not a very quiet helmet).
So, there you go--great engineering and customer service, the details have already been sweated for you, superb components, and the best instructions in the business. I liked it enough that I'm thinking of buying another KTM so maybe I can do it again...not entirely joking here. It was almost therapeutic.
I don't put ever stickers on stuff, but I put the Rottweiller Performance sticker on the front cowl.

I purchased the stage 3 kit with the optional dual velocity stacks, fuel dongles and stage 3 SAS/canister delete, and 40 cell prefilter. I've only put about 250 miles on it so far, but instantly I could tell it was a lot smoother at idle and take off as advertised. Beyond that the induction noise is intoxicating! You can literally feel it in your chest when accelerating aggressively. Overall the instructions, fit, performance, and quality of the product were well worth the money. Can't wait to get the headers and Power Commander next!! Thanks Rottweiler performance!

When researched it was the best intake system I found. Also the most expensive. I bought the Stage 3 kit, Charcoal Canister removal kit, the SAS removal kit and fuel dongles at the same time. Installation was fairly straight forward once I eventually found the installation instructions on there website. Instructions do not show up on iPad view, which I was using, you have to switch to web view which they tell you to do in small writing. I have a full motorcycle lift so that made the job easier. Living in Canada I was faced with shipping charges, tax and duty, and currency exchange. It would be nice if companies that offer free shipping in the USA took what it would cost to ship USA and deducted that from the shipping charges to Canada and only charged the difference to their Canadian purchasers. I also purchased a Rekluse Clutch from Rottweiler. Installation was easy with the enclosed instructions and I’m very happy with the results though shifting is a little nochier. All in all I’m happy with the set up. I haven’t been able to get the 1090 out for a good ride, due to weather and other cercomstances. I’ll be able to assess more once I’m able to get a good backroad, off-road ride in. That said the intake works as stated and that deserves a 5 star. It was the final cost and finding the installation instructions that dropped it to a 4. Well made product.

Quick and easy install. Did both Stage 3 SAS/Canister Removal Kit and the Stage 5 Intake system upgrade w/ ignition module. It all fit within my weekend along with a valve adjustment, oil change, and chain and sprocket change. It works flawlessly - as long as you remember to plug back in the big throttle-by-wire connector. After realizing my error, I was out on a test ride. I used the Rotweiler Power fuel map. Idle is better, power is smooth, and noticeably higher. The front wheel is definitely ligheter on the top side of 3rd gear than it was before!! Good on ya, Rottweiler! Love the intake filter system. Good work.

Ok let me say I've so far only put 20 miles on since the install on my Ktm 1090r. So far I have noticed a huge change in sound and grunt... simply awesome. Read the directions well before the install to help you avoid getting stumped with electrical thingy's and what nots when deleting the evap system. Other than that you can rest easy knowing NO dirt will enter your engine. When I pulled the factory box it felt cheap next the Rottweiler system. Thanks guys for making a REAL solution.

finally fitted filter and sas removal . two words BLOODY HELL!! awesome midrange improvement and of idle pulls like a large rhino on steroids. youve got a great product a bit pricey this side of the pond but thats our rubbish £.
keep designing guys and good luck

USPS delivery was very quick, however our customs are legendarily slow so finally i have your excellent bit of performance porn.velocity stack very well machined and all of it a quality product . oh and well packed JASON !! my mate attests to the performance effects so will find out when fitted.
cheers simon roberts

should have done this a year ago on my '15 1190 Adv R. did the stage 2 kit in combo with SAS/Canister and Fuel Dongle kits. installation was straight forward. cleaned up the 'innards' to the way i liked. throttle response is so much smoother. the motor used to hesitate when throttle applied so I would get a little surge after a pause.
only 'con' was that i think there should be a bottle of the filter oil spray included (held up my install until i got some).

This Product in the stage 5 unlocks the big twin. It smooths out the jerkyness when just cruising around. It isn't hard to fit as long as you follow the instructions and the wiring loom fits nice into the bike.It make a big differance when you open up the big girl just hang on. It lights up the rear tyre easy , which caught me by supprise. Thanks Chris and the team
Posted by Adam on 17th Sep 2017
This is a no fuss air system . Why didn't KTM do this system as standard? Easy to fit and it will be easy to clean. I got this as a stage 5 kit.
Posted by Jeff on 1st Sep 2017
I have done air box updates before on all of my 4-strokes but man this kit was by far the best overall improvement ever. I now can lug the bike down just putting through town or down the trail. Before it was never happy around 2500 rpms but now no problem. Then hit the throttle and the response is right there screams to red line. In fact on the street the traction control has never activated in 3rd gear but it does now!!! I did install the fuel plugs to deactivate the 02 sensors as well. I don't need a dyno to say this kit kicks ass-

Couldn't be happier! Super easy install and just a work of art compared to the stock POS air box.
Easy install and a noticeable power difference (as if the 1190 needs more power)
Great great product, worth every cent!
Posted by PeO on 2nd Mar 2017
Easy to install. Great sound.

Can't believe how much stuff comes off the bike and how clean the final install looks. Looking forward to some weather to actually try out my new power.

The VERY BEST SOLUTION for the KTM 1190 air box problems. High Quality. Excellent Filtration. Superior Performance Gains. Great Customer Support. The Best Value for 1190 owners.

Great fit, great instructions.
Smooth power delivery and very worth it! you can feel the added ponies.

A very well made product that exceeded my expectations. Save the money on an Akro muffler (that's overpriced) and get this kit. The gains are amazing and the bike is so smooth and powerful now. Like it should have been.
Posted by Scott Cox on 29th Oct 2016
I read on all of the KTM forums that this was the 'thing to do' but had my doubts. Boy was I wrong. The bike is so much better now. KTM should have hired these guys a long time ago.
Posted by Brody Gilbert on 29th Oct 2016
Best mod I've purchased thus far. Forget anything else. Very happy with the results it had on my 1190 R. The oiling process is a little different as the foam is bonded to the frame but once I read the instructions it was a snap.
Posted by Unknown on 22nd Oct 2016
I always thought the 1190 adventure I have has enough power for the street. I also thought that the fuel delivery was too refined and not quite as thrilling as the older KTMs I've owned. I don't know if this mod have given the more power as I haven't dyno'ed it but I do know the power delivery is now amazing. Power in all revs, thiird gear power wheelies all day long, less radiating heat, and a big ass grin on my face.
I went with the stage 3 and a pipe. It was expensive but much cheaper than buying another bike. This bike is truly an all arounder now, whereas before I thought I might need street fighter to get my rush for power.
Posted by Tom Traynor on 30th Jul 2016
I do this to all KTMS (My fourth) inckuding my new 1190 Adventure. Huge. Midrange grunt increase and ability to run it in 3rd down to 2000 RPMS--then just whack it and motor off! Plus, Chris has actually answered his cell on a weekend to walk me through questions I had!
Posted by Daniel on 30th Jul 2016
The first time I twisted the throttle after the install I was shocked. The thing sounds mean as hell when you give it a handfull of throttle. I love it. It's probably going to end up costing me a lot in tickets tho cuz I can't keep my wrist out of it now. It still sounds pretty much stock at an idle, then gets a mean growl at about half throttle, then sounds like the God of thunder when you give it full throttle. The power delivery is much smother and it pulls a lot harder of the line and thru the low rpms. I called my buddy after my first ride and told him he has to get it for his 1190 adv R. The thing is really easy to power wheelie now too. I love it. Money well spent.

Tried the unifilter fix. Was still getting debris in my filter box. Thought this one is a little pricey, but it is quality built and now I know I don't have to worry about dirt entering my engine.
The noise on full throttle opening is fairly loud. But with all this power I'm not full throttle most of the time. All in all, a great product.
Posted by Unknown on 11th Jul 2016
If nothing else this intake makes you want to just full throttle all the time. I love the safety it provides my engine, the look is awesome and the power is amazing! Mine does not sound too loud even when paired with the Akrapovic exhaust. If you remove your baffles it may get annoying as its too loud but it's just nice pure fun with them still in. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Posted by Rick W on 12th Jun 2016
I should have done this months ago! No way that dust is getting in anymore! Chris and Mariel are great people, and had great communication during a backorder that held up shipment for a week. This is an expensive kit, but there is nothing like it on the market. The sound is great, and it make the 1190 more responsive and and lively.
Posted by Bill Daily on 29th May 2016
Just put this filter set up on my 1190s, as well as, two velocity stacks, the fuel dongles, and the stage 3 SAS removal.
Like the other reviews say, this really transformed the bike.
The throttle response off of idle no longer has that EFI lean surge, and the engine really pulls better in the upper rpm range (butt dyno approved).
There is more intake noise, but that is a good thing as it is a sweet sound for sure,
All of the kits were complete and of a high quality, like my title says....money well spent.

Just installed the stage 3 intake, Charcoal canister removal kit and Fueling dongles. First let me say it was awesome getting rid of an entire box of useless parts!!
My first ride, I worried about warning lights, but nothing! The new found power was awesome! Smooth throttle response and no sputter on deccel coupled with weight loss makes these upgrades a MUST for KTM Adventure bike owners!
Thank you to Chris and the ROTT. TEAM!!

The stock 1290SA is very well fuelled, but after adding a BOS desert fox muffler I got the usual popping.
I thought if I'm going to do anything about it I may as well address the whole system, so I added the fantastic Rottweiler intake and velocity stacks, a power commander V, dual auto tune, SAS removal, and the Arrow headers with the cat (I'm in Europe where they can sometimes check theses things).
It went together well, and the beast growled at me as soon as I hit the starter.
The power map maximises the value of the improved air flow from the intake system, and set me up really well to start the auto tune (which I haven't needed to use yet).
The manufacturing quality and industrial design of the intake baseplate, and the tuned velocity stacks, is exceptional- vastly superior to the OEM.
This is a unique performance mod, in that it gives you not only the improved performance you're after, but also the peace of mind that your bike is actually better off with it.
Most impressive is the after sales help provided by Chris. I had a few oddball questions that he graciously answered quickly, clearly and concisely. It's no overstatement to say that in my 35 years of motorcycling I haven't had better after sales service.

WOW! Just installed the Rottweiler 4.2 intake system on my 2014 KTM Adventure R and only one thing was missing. A disclaimer that says THIS WILL SCARE GROWN MEN! What an AMAZING set up! Chris has done an amazing job on this set up! Everything you could imagine and more !! The sound of the CF Yosh is PERFECT. The build quality of the intake is top notch. The install is very easy. Chris was able to set up the power commander for me so it was plug and play. I would HIGHLY recommend Chris and Rottweiler Performance to anyone with a KTM.
