Fuel Mapping Questions: A PCV is not required on the 690 for 'safe fueling' when simply bolting on this product. A PCV is simply the key to achieve full control over fueling for better or maximum performance, power and the ability to switch maps easily, use Auto Tune for 'dynamic mapping' or install a quick shifter. Installing or already have Rally Raid fuel tanks? Some older model aftermarket fuel tanks require you to remove the seat tabs from the 2012+ 690 frame to fit (Please verify with them) This is because KTM introduced a new seat support tab on the frame in 2012 that would not work with existing aftermarket rally tanks designed for previous years without the tabs so it was required to remove them. I did the whole setup with a DynoJet PCV, Arrow exhaust, and the Rottweiler intake; frankly, this is makes the bike perform perfectly. Everything was easy to install, the instructions for the Rottweiler intake were easy to follow (the Arrow exhaust instruction were terrible but the exhaust swap was easy without them), and the items were built to a high quality. The bike has been running about 20 degrees cooler and will climb a mountain in 2nd at idle without stalling. A minor complaint would be that the intake requires a bit of finese (modification) to make it fit neatly below the 690E-R seat without pressing too hard on the filter.

Saw dust on the inside of my stock airbox, and decided I should do something about it. Researched a bit, and decided I liked this setup the best. Ended up doing the intake and a PCV, even though I wasn't really looking for more power. I really notice a LOT more power/responsiveness in the mid range, which is where you spend most of your time. Definitely adds a growl when you get on it. Was worried it would be more of a sucking sound, but its a cool and pleasant growl that gets added. No complaints there!
Being an old dirt bike racer, I wish the filter could be removed from the "frame". Would make oiling it a lot easier. I used to just put the filter in a baggie, pour in some oil, and work it in there. Much more difficult to do with the frame in the way (still not sure I got it oiled well enough). Might look in to some oil that comes out of an aerosol can... Maybe that would work better.
Bottom line: Easy install. High quality. Allows the 690 to breathe! Oh yea, buy the storage bag to go with!

Easy to install. Did not change exhaust, fueling or map. Works well, good sound and snappy throttle response.
Love the extra space created and the optional storage bag.
Would like the foam filer to be removable from the frame with spare filters available for the perfect setup.

I replaced my stock paper filter with a factory foam filter and thought I would be good to go. I pound long hard off-road miles on my 690 and wanted to make sure no dirt or dust would be getting into my engine. Well, no good! After my first big ride I pull filter and there was dust everywhere down in the intake! That was it, I bought the Rottweiler intake kit. Done deal! 500 miles of dry dusty riding later and my intake is absolutely clean! This is an investment for the thousands of miles I intend to put on my 690. A must do upgrade.

I'm one of the many who've suffered dirt in the airbox of my 690 Enduro. The UNI oil filter helped, but the stock airbox still had sealing issues. It's super dry & dusty in Northern California so I needed something that'll work and keep the dirt out of my engine. After the super easy installation, I tried it out in Stanislaus National Forest, and it didn't disappoint! It felt like it made a bit more low end torque. Make sure to get a set of pre-filters, they'll save the hassle of constantly cleaning the main filter element, and add a layer of protection that's absolutely needed out in these dry & dusty conditions. Very impressed with the quality product that Rottweiler offers!

Fitment, materials, tolerances, and design are all top of the line. You can tell someone actually took time going over and over this design and the parts are machined well and made correctly. No cutting corners. They are also quick to respond and very helpful with any questions.

I had a low idle stalling issue for a long time that i was trouble shooting and went through a long process. First I upgraded my fuel pump, bought a new fuel injector and changed the fuel filter and oil. I put in new gas and added the wide band sensor auto tune with the power commander V to adjust the fuel to air ratio. Still had issues when the traffic light would turn green. My air uni air filter looked fine. After installing the rottweiler intake system my bike was completely fixed. All stalling issues solved and more power than ever. I highly recommend! I also got the under the seat bag and am very happy with the stream lined storage. LOVE my bike now!!!

Very well made product, super easy to install, great videos on line if you need that extra help and motivation. This intake with a PCV ,a Rottweiler map make an unbelievable difference. Plus with all the extra room up front I got the storage bag as well.

I bought a 990 Super duke 3 years ago with a Rottweiler intake already installed and it's awesome! but I recently purchased a 690smc r for a bit of that sideways action.. I found the duke set up fits so nice, and easy to service why not hit the guys/girls up for my 690 needs, this was the first time dealing with Rottweiler personally, and they exceeded my expectations in every way! emailed me every step of the purchase and had my new set up delivered to the ass end of the planet (NZ) within days! So I threw the instructions in the bin and went to town installing the part, to easy! everything fitted perfect and the bike definitely breaths and sounds better! now back to work to save for a PCV..the gift was a nice touch to Cheers!

Amazing product huge gains in power very intimidating the bike has earned much more respect along with my exhaust and power command tuned by Rottweiler. Amazing pull and the bike doesn't pop as much on decel and I can feel the bike breathing better.

Fit and Finish is incredible! I replaced the "other" brand aftermarket intake on my 690 SMC with the Rottweiler and notice a day and night difference before the remap!! Top notch product through and through!! Also installed the Rottweiler intake on my Superduke 1290, makes me want to buy more KTM bikes! If they only made intakes for Ducati I'd truly be in heaven!!

I installed this intake, along with the canister valve and fueling dongles at the same time; stock exhaust, no Power Commander. It sounds great! You get a nice braaap on opening the throttle, and it's more responsive at low rpms (that's likely from the fueling dongle). The PDF instructions are fairly clear, and Rottweiler has a video on YouTube which is a great help.
I'd make three suggestions. First, the location for the temperature sensor is a reach for the wiring on my 2017 model. That causes the wire to run against the edge of the filter base plate. I put on two layers of heat-shrink tubing to protect that section of wire. Secondly, if you're using a foam filter for the first time I'd suggest oiling it then setting it aside overnight. I put too much on the first time, and wound up with a small puddle under the bike the next morning. Lastly, pay attention to the throttle body. On my bike, the area where you can attach the hose is fairly narrow, so I had to place the hose clamp on the very end of the hose.
And I nearly forgot: I found it much easier to remove the crankcase breather tube from the airbox by pushing it into the airbox and out through the top, instead of pulling it directly out as in the instructions. I used the same technique in reverse when installing it on the base plate.

Installed this along with new exhaust and power commander programmed by Rottweiler. Huge noticeable power increase. Almost scary. The bike idles much better, and the power is much smoother. It is a whole new bike. Should have done this upgrade a long time ago!

I purchased the Rottweiler Intake for my 2015 KTM 690 Enduro R. The product came nicely packaged with all parts needed. The installation was simple and took roughly 1 hour. Now for the good stuff.... this Intake completely transformed my bike! Prior to installing the Intake I was running a AU uni-filter with the evo 1 airbox lid, a PCV with both Rottweiler maps and map switch. I had no clue how much the stock airbox was holding the bike back. It ran great and I thought it was making good power. The PCV made a huge difference from stock. Now that I have the Rottweiler Intake, the power is increased throughout the entire rpm range. I would say that the Intake made as big of a difference as the PCV did. Now that I have both, the bike is simply amazing. I wish I would have purchased the Intake when I installed the Power Commander. This thing rips! I am so HAPPY. Rottweiler absolutely nailed it with this Intake. Aside from the amazing power increase, I no longer have to worry about the poor design of the factory airbox letting dust through to the engine. The Rottweiler Intake seals perfectly, and is super easy to remove and clean. If your on the fence about getting this Intake, just bite the bullet and do it. You bike will thank you. You'll wish you would have done it sooner! To unlock the true performance this product is capable of, get a Power Commmander 5 as well. It's basically like adding nitrous to an already amazing machine.

Read reviews on this particular product for well over a year. Did not wanna spend the money for the Intake and now that I did I wished I would of a long time ago. Very easy to put on the video tells you step by step what to do. A little more Intake noise then stock but I like it. Absolutely wonderful customer service I emailed them back and forth were a great help and I will be buying from them in the future thanks guys

This product is very well designed for the bike. All instructions are very clearly written. I 'seat of the pants' dyno certainly tells me the bike responds better throughout the engine range. I does increase 'intake noise' but that is too be expected with such a non-restrictive intake. The bike certainly does 'breathe easier'.
The added 'option' of the storage bag is great too. Gives a bit of 'hidden' storage space under the seat. Great idea.
Shipping was very quick and the customer service is beyond superior.

Just received the kit in the mail. It's winter here in Canada so I'll have to wait for spring to see how it goes. Only thing I can see being an issue is cleaning the filter when its dirty as the filter and plastic structure are permanently mated. I wish you could remove just the filter for cleaning. Otherwise it looks like it will work as billed. Thanks Rottweiler.

I felt the 690 to be a bit lackluster in the power and filtration department (found lots of dust in my stock air box) After installing this kit I was blown away at the instant results. A little hesitant at first to drop the money, but now will have to budget this into every KTM bike purchase moving forward. Thank you Rotty people!! Braaaap!

I recently purchased a 2010 KTM 690 Enduro R and went on a spending spree out fitting it how I wanted. A guy I know with a 990 Adventure suggested and raved one of these intakes. I was concerned with water crossings. He floated his 990 down a river and never had a single issue. Install was VERY straight forward and the bit of kit is a very high quality. I did the front bag setup as well which made running around town much easier. The intake noise is much louder (I like it) and it made a VERY noticeable difference in mid range torque. Between this, an FMF slip on, deleting all the smog equipment and using the TuneECU cable/software to remove throttle restrctions and adjust fueling, its a completely different bike! Don't hesitate! Well worth the money!

Rottweiler did not skimp or cut corners like so many other companies do with there products. This is a solid design and easy install. It upgraded the performance of my 690 by leaps and bounds.
I would love it if your RnD department could come up with a cool design for extra fuel storage in place of the Internal Tank Bag as an option.

Recently installed and enjoyed the process very much. The build quality and supplied hardware is very, very nice. The instructional video is professional and comprehensive with good installation tips that make sense. I didn't have to make any modifications as is normal with lesser quality bolt ons. Very happy with the results. The bag is a nice touch too.
I haven't put many miles on yet but can tell that it will last a long time and provide reliable performance and the filter skins that I ordered with the kit will make trail side cleaning a breeze by carrying extras.
On the exhaust end I was already using a Remus Hexacone / titanium header on stock map setting 2 (advanced), and now the motor is obviously breathing much better. Throttle response is yet another level of slightly more crisp and bottom end sweeter. The induction noise is noticeably more throaty and all good, to be expected. The combination sounds deep and punchy with a mean growl at higher rpm.

Received the intake in about a week considering it was a international order. Fitting was easy, especially with the YouTube video to follow, my only hang up was the angle of the silicone hose from the intake to the throttle body was a bit out and needed some trimming on the top side of the hose as it wouldn't make a even seal all the way around otherwise, and sit mounted flush and at the correct position otherwise.
I imagine these are the only thing not made in house by rottweiler so not really their fault, but would like to make people aware of it.
Other than that all other parts supplied are manufactured to a high quality .
After the install I did the throttle position sensor reset and the 15 minute idle reset to allow the remapping to take place took it for a quick ride and immediately noticed the difference.
The bike seems to just run alot more smoothly from low down all the way through the revs , im still running the standard exhaust but still there is a notable difference in the bikes performance .
If I could give this a rating of 4.5 I would, the only issue was the silicone hose as mentioned and also it came in blue instead of orange as picured when I ordered, im not that fussed of the colour but I imagine some would be so just give the option.
Other than that I will give some video footage on YouTube of the end product out in the bush soon (waynejenkins @ YouTube).
I would really recommend this product over the standard air box by a huge margin.

Ordered with PCV and a map switch. Came with the form that explains my mappings as advertised. Wanted the two mappings because I was worried about fuel consumption for some of the longer ADV rides I go on.
Installation was easy. Noticed an improvement in the bike's power delivery immediately. Testing showed no significant difference in fuel economy.
About two weeks after installation, took the bike on a trip from Anchorage, AK to Inuvik, NT. Bike performed excellent throughout some gnarly roads in the Arctic. Fuel economy is a big deal because some of the legs are 250+ miles between gas stations. I had no issues.
Super happy with this upgrade. Gives my bike more braap with no negative side effects and the new airfilter is much easier to work on and get to things with the giant stock airbox gone.

I got my hands on a 690 a couple months ago, and was a little disappointed in the power delivery of the stock set up. In my online search for ways to uncork the bike, I came across Rotweiller and all the good reviews surrounding the company. I called them up, and although it took a couple of try's to get a hold of someone (they are a small company, so be patient and give them a couple of calls if needed, it is well worth the wait), I eventually got a hold of the owner Chris. He took the time to walk me through everything they have to offer for my bike and their experience with each setting, which led me to purchasing the intake in addition to many many other parts they have for the bike. The intake is simple and *(&$^()# awesome! It goes in easily, the instructions were spot on with no surprises during installation, and the power and sound changes in the bike were worth every penny. I would recommended getting the Power Commander with Rotweiller's map as I did, and you will be VERY happy with the way your 690 performs. I will be purchasing their intake system for my 1290 in the near future.

I was impressed with the quality of every part in the intake system kit. Nicely packaged and the install was easy. Seems to have picked up some low and top end power on my 2010 enduro/sm. Quieter than the stock airbox without snorkel, but adds an interesting sound from the throttle body. Also opens up airflow behind the radiator which seems to keep the bike a bit cooler as well.

huge gain with pcv easy bolt on runs cooler love the sound with a stock exhaust intake tube could use a little trimming my kinked a little ... mixed some 100 octane sunoco with 93 and she is so happy ....dragged raced a 1290 super duke the other morning of course he beat me but only by a bike and a half in a 1/4 mile ... its a nice piece and if you want to feel a real seat of the pants gain and it cleans up the wiring if you take the time to sort it out ... would like to hear back from chris about the intake hose ... he had the knowledge others didnt ...thanks man!

The Rottweiler system with filterskins worked great on a two day "Black Dog" rally here in Oregon. Just pop off a dirty filter skin and replace with a new one from a baggie - you are good to go. You can even store the filter skins in the big area left when you pulled out the original air box. I don't really notice a big increase in intake noise. I think this set up will work great on an upcoming two week trip into the dust hell of NV Blackrock and OR-ID Owyhee country. Was money and time well spent.

It took less than an hour and a half to fit airfilter and PCV. Lots more space on top of engine and at last the inferior KTM filter assembly is gone. On 8000 km there was more dust inside the stock airbox than on the outside.

I've noticed a fair increase in power with this intake system. The filter is far easier to clean and get at then the stock and even setting valves on the bike is easier because the gigantic stock air box is no longer having to come out.
I am only running the intake with no pcv at the moment and you definitely still feel an increase in power and less effort when clawing for revs. And the thing I noticed the most is the sound. I am running a wings exhaust with an "off-road baffle" and before installing this setup it sounded much like the stock with a slightly higher db top end. Now it has a more aggressive bark even at low/mid rpm.
I recommend you get this product if you like your 690 and feel like there is something missing or are sick of fiddling with the clunky awkward stock box. I am in Canada so with shipping and import this cost me around 570 CAD and after the first ride I knew it was worth it.

Tremendous difference from the stock airbox. I even had the open air lid on my stock box and this is light years ahead of the stock heinous air box. I installed this intake along with my custom dynoed map onto the PCV. I also have a map switch enabling me the ability to utilize Rottweiler Performance's map as well. I was shocked at the instant performance gains I noticed on the first ride. This thing soars thru RPMs and can easily balance my wheelies in third and fourth gear without shifting my weight anymore. It almost bursts into power on the higher RPMs (6-7k). Such an amazing product. Thank you so much Rottweiler Performance for another quality, well machined, and thoughtful product!!

The stock air box and filter on the 690 isn't the best at keeping fine dust out and the bike really seemed to struggle to rev over 5000 RPMs. I had previously added a aftermarket muffler to my bike but didn't notice a whole lot of increase in power but the addition of the Rottweiler intake was a game changer! The bike now revs effortlessly up to redline and runs the way it should have from the factory had it not been for restrictive stock intake and exhaust. The intake requires some minor assembly but the installation is simple and straight forward. If you have ever had your air box off before it goes pretty quick. The fit and finish of the intake are excellent. The sealing of the filter to the base plate is a proven design that Rottweiler uses on their intakes for other models so I expect it to keep the dirt out and the air entering the engine clean. The dzus fasteners make it simple to remove the air filter and the optional filter skins extend cleaning intervals which are perfect for multi day rides in dusty conditions. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to improve the protectection from dust entering the engine and improve the performance of their 690.
