About the 'add on' options available on this page: We regularly receive phone calls asking, "Is there anything I might be missing or would want to add to my order that I may not know about?". To better answer this question and make your item selection process as smooth and easy as possible, we have added all of the 'add on' options pertinent to this kit right on one page for convenience. Below we will explain what they mean and hot links are provided to navigate you to a page with even more information. These options are available for the purposes of designing your own kit around your desired outcome and budget but can also be purchased separately.
(Option 1) Adventure 1190/1290 Stage Kit: This will select your intake kit stage level. See descriptions above. Only the 'Stage 1' kit requires trimming the rear velocity stack by 20 millimeters. While this works quite well for power and use, our Stage 2 option includes a more optimal TVS-80-54 billet velocity stack which is a 'Tuned' bell-mouth replacement. This would be considered by tuning engineers as a more 'proper' setup for maximizing air flow and power outputs. These can also be purchased separately if the user prefers to tune with velocity stack lengths front and rear. See dyno chart(s).
(Option 2) Comments If you have chosen STAGE 4-6, you can ask us to set up the units for you for free, an exclusive from Rottweiler Performance. This means loading maps (STAGE 4), setting up Auto Tune (STAGE 5-AT), setting up the proper ignition advance (STAGE 5-IM) or setting up everything (STAGE 6). If you don't know, let us know and if we need to contact you to discuss your options, we will.
(Option 3) Add a Second TVS-80-54 Velocity Stack: The Stage 2 and up Rottweiler Intake Kits come with one TVS-80-54 billet velocity stack for filter fitment and performance purposes. A second TVS-80-54 Tuned Velocity Stack will produce about 2 more horsepower across the RPM range and about 5 more near redline simply dropped in. If you would like to learn more about velocity stacks, see this page. An additional TVS-80-54 Velocity Stack can be added in the options below if desired.
(Option 4) Add an SAS/Canister Removal Kit: This is the first thing almost every customer does when building their performance packages. See our SAS Stage Kits to learn more. If you are installing an intake system and would like to retain the emissions systems, skip this option and you will need to install a small breather filter where the SAS valve drew air from the stock air-box available here.
(Option 5) Adding a Dynojet map switch to stage 4 and above will allow for dual maps or to toggle Auto Tune on or off: With the addition of a Powercommander V, adding a map switch will allow for the use of two totally separate fuel maps that can be toggled back and forth with this switch while the bike is running. If using Auto Tune, this switch is no longer allowed for dual maps (Auto Tune will just keep trying to correct them) and is re-purposed to turn Auto Tune on or off which can be useful for different reasons. Learn more.
(Option 6) Pre filters make cleaning a snap. Would you like to add any to this order?: All intake kits for the KTM Adventure 1050-1290 come with one 60 cel pre filter. With this option you can choose to add more to make maintenance even faster. Learn more.
(Option 7) Stage 3 and up will disable the stock narrow band O2s. Would you like a pair of 12mm O2 plugs so you can remove them?: The stock narrow band O2's (the things that look like spark plugs in your exhaust tubes) are unplugged from stage 3 and up and no longer serve any purpose. They can be kept on the bike or swapped out with these O2 plugs for a cleaner look. Learn more.
(Option 8) Would you like to add a No Toil maintenance kit? (2-3 oilings/cleanings): These do not come pre oiled for international shipping purposes. We recommend any name brand biodegradable oil designed for foam. If you have some, great. If not, you may easily add some here. Learn more.
(Option 9) Feedback: Is this page informative enough for you to make a good decision?
We know staring at all of those pieces of plastic and bolts can leave some KTM Adventure 1190/1290 owners scratching their heads but fear not!, Rottweiler Performance is here to help in this short but very informative 'How-To' video.
This product carries a 1 year warranty against defects in materials and craftsmanship.

This is my 3rd Rottweiller install on a KTM and I must admit the power gains felt on the 1290R are the best so far. Love the sound, the power and easy install.

So I’d really been wanting this kit for a long time. Everybody says it’s the best mod to do on the bike. I know my bike is eight years old, however the instructions alfor the intake and the SAS were not crystal clear. Rottweiler does have some videos but they’re for a different bike and a newer bike. Some YouTube videos do help as well as the KTM parts diagrams. Trying to put the new drain tubes/vacuum tubes on the throttlebody nipples is damn near impossible unless you lube it up or take a lot of brackets off your bike, which isn’t explained in the instructions. I had all the tools and Im fairly capable working on cars, bikes and projects and this was an all day task. Make sure you have a whole pack of zip ties, more should be included. My biggest let down was finishing the whole project up and realizing that there was no oil in the kit to oil down the pre-filter and filter, which is required. I live in the country and had to drive 30 minutes to go pick up some oil. I believe for the price you pay for the components that a spray bottle of organic air filter oil should be included. Come on Rott! Almost perfect! The bike sounded great with an aftermarket Yoshimura exhaust and this air intake gave it probably about 5% more power definitely mid range and upper range but not on the low end. I’m sure the Power Commander would take care of the low end. Definitely do the SAS delete, just be prepared to use good lighting and curved needle nose to install the new lines. I would give 5 stars if they had better instructions, video and added the necessities like more zip ties and air filter oil.

Owned my old 2014 1190 Adventure since new. It has always been an incredible bike with plenty of power. The first time I opened it up, of course the stock air filter was not doing its job. Luckily never seemed to hurt her much. I went to a unifilter and racked up about 34k on that. Worked really well with keeping dirt out. Lately I have neglected the old gal for a few years so I decided to do what I have always wanted to do and put the Rottweiler intake on it as well as go through everything including suspension. I had always been afraid to work on such a modern bike and just let the dealer take care of everything. Now that I have gotten a bit older and more patient, I have really started to enjoy working on my own motorcycles. The stage 4 along with power comander showed up after work one day. I took my time and cleaned and installed as I went. It was so fun that I ended up getting the entire kit installed in 8 hours that evening. I’m still waiting for new plugs before I button it back up and suspension is not finished and installed so I have not gotten a chance to give it a rip or even start it. I am really looking forward to trying it out. Fingers crossed I did it correctly and it will start lol.
Nice kit! Cleaned everything up and made the whole thing not intimidating to work on. I can easily pop the intake back off when the plugs get here. With the SAS gone I can see getting to the plugs better. If I messed up and it won’t run, I here these guys are really helpful. So far I haven’t needed to find out since there is so much info on how to install via the good directions and their you tube presence.
Thank you,

The quality of the intake housing is really nice and heavy duty! Usually, plastic injected components are pretty flimsy, not so with Rottweiler's intake system. The optional debris plate is a bit of a struggle, but can easily be trimmed to fit your application. My bike has never run better! 2019 Super Adventure R

Wow, amazing how much more power comes at low rpm after installing the stage 4 kit!
Posted by nbpd_316@yahoo.com on 23rd Apr 2022
I just replaced my air intake with the Rottweiler intake and the throttle is more crisp than before abs seems like it has more power. I also added the O2 delete and SAS block off kit to the bike all at the same time since I was removing the tanks. I don’t notice any backfiring and the bike just runs better. This was super easy to install and if there were any questions, the videos on line were easy to follow.
I would recommend this to anyone with a KTM Adventure bike. Mine is a 2014 Adventure R.

The hardest part of installing this was taking off the plastics and tank. Really, as simple as could be. All the parts fit as they should - bit of advice? Trim 1/4 inch off the front of the debris shield and it slides right into place without chaffing on the wiring at the front of the cavity. I had already done the SAS delete and fuel dongles so this was literally a 30 minute job.

Easiest and most direct install of an aftermarket automotive/motorcycle product(s) I have ever had in 25 years. Power commander, SAS delete, canister delete, intake, including all the associated dongles was completed in just over 2 hours. , including the removal and reinstall of the tank (which takes 20-30 mins on this bike). Perfect fit, bike runs noticeably better smoother and stronger.

Fitted a stage 3 kit and now the bike feels alive ! Sounds awesome too !

Easy to install. It provides improved airflow and protection.

This has to be the best product I have put on my 1090. So easy to install and it has unleashed the Rottweiler in the 1090 that has been kept in cage .

As most of the reviews say, Rottweiler is the best. The instructions for everything were very clear and if the pictures and instructions aren't good enough for you, the YouTube videos are even better.
I love how my bike sounds now with the new intake and if I could speak to how smooth everything is now, I would. It turns out that the previous owner of my bike had already done the SAS/canister removal, installed the fueling dongles etc but they did it the lazy way and left the O2 sensors and SAS covers on so I didn't know it was already done. I removed everything and put on the new covers, and plugs and I replaced the dongles as the ones from Rottweiler look like they are assembled better and not just a resistor jammed into the old plug. Overall, I am very happy with this. As far as sound goes, it's louder but not noticeable until I really open up the throttle... and then it sounds awesome!

My 2018 1090r runs the best it ever has. The Bike throws off a Lot less heat. I was able to take off my left leg after-market heat shield and my leg was not being baked. You can really hear the Air being sucked in now. The Bike runs smoother both accelerating and de-acceerating. The throttle is very responsive. The installation went well and everything works.
I have read where you get a better hp and torque curve, etc. On all that, I can say that Bike does seem to pull a bit more in all ranges.

My roman ktm 1190 r thanks to you!!! A lot of engine torque and incredible sound, before it was bad .. now it looks like a wild beast! Thanks again for everything!

Stage 4 Rottweiler intake system with tuned PC5, velocity stacks, fueling dongles, Arrow decat header and Leo Vince exhaust can.
Rottweiler is a must have for your KTM, I really don’t have to say it, but more fuel, more air means more power. Better fueling, and smoother throttle response.

No codes. Installation not too bad. Dynojet tuned for my bike. I only had to reference the directions

seriously, cleaned up so much of that low end shutter its crazy. if that was the only thing it fixed, id still get it. the sound, response, and power is also a huge plus.

This product could not have had better fitment if it came from the factory. The reduction of heat alone is worth the install. However, it did wake up the bike very well. I had no complaints with the factory setup but after install I could never go back to stock.

Night and day difference for my 2016 KTM 1190 A with Rottweiler's SAS removal, EVAP canister removal, and O2 sensor removal dongles plus the Rottweiler intake with 2 tuned velocity stacks. I also added a GPR slip-on. NO POWER COMMANDER. The difference in the way the bike runs is incredible. NIGHT AND DAY difference from idle up to 5500rpm or so in smoothness and overall power. Roll-on power in 5th or 6th gear is definitely noticeably increased. Intake grunt is very audible and sounds aggressive...which I love. For a few hundred dollars I am extremely happy! Rottweiler is the best for KTM's!

JUST GREAT !! MAYBE JUST MAKE THE ACTUAL MOLD FOR THE 1290 R OF THE DEBRIS HOLDER, TEH ONE SUPPLIED IS FOR THE 1190 R
Posted by Chris H on 4th Jan 2021
Certainly added low end grunt, and smoother acceleration. The bike sounds better as well. Went on a 200 mile ride, and really noticed a difference. Install is pretty easy, but with the stage 3 it was unclear what to do with the two front hoses hooked into the original airbox, since the new one did not use them. Had to call to clarify, but they are very helpful.

Stage 4 with PCV and yoshimura slip on. The gain of power is amazing Perfect for big wellies the intake make more sound than the exaust but i love it because he make moahh powaah babyy !

I have had a couple KTM's and wanted to buy the intake system but did not until now. I must say installing that and the SAS also purchased another velocity stack so pretty have the works and its awesome better torque and power throughout, i do have a pipe so that helps as well. I love the howl of the intake but its loud enough with my pipe that i need earplugs which i always wear anyway. Awesome KTM products highly recommend them!

Purchased Stage 3 kit and install was easy. Review the video on tank removal first. Print out the instructions prior to install and steps are clear and concise. SAS/Canister Removal Kit opens up plenty of room for tool bag in tail section under seat. Ordered second TVS-80 and can feel more mid to top end. If you want quiet, this is not for you. Engine will growl now with velocity stacks and exposed air filter. Quality of product "top shelf". Plastic parts and machined parts are well made...too bad they are all covered by the 3million gallon fuel tank. Oh well, beauty is from the inside, right? Overall VERY satisfied, communication from Rottweiler is great, real people who know the product and shipping was fast (even though had one part back ordered).

I was hesitant to pull the trigger on this upgrade for a long time. But wow, it sounds awesome. You can really tell it's BREATHING in the mid to upper RPMs now. The sound reminds me of my dad's boat when he'd open the throttle up, it's night and day.
I wish I could speak to the power gains by numbers. It feels more powerful, though I might just be twisting the throttle a bit more since it sounds so good lol.
By feeling alone, the cost is worth it just because it feels more satisfying to ride. If it's actually a faster bike because of it, great.
Caution: don't overdo it on the filter oil, I definitely oversaturated the filter. Mine has leaked down all over the rear valve cover and headers. I've really baked on some filter oil and it's made quite a mess.

I ride my bike pretty hard, love the catwalk just above 100 in third gear. I live in northern bc canada. Not really any access to a dyno. Im thinking lower end and mid range tougue is better. First and second gear kinda scared me a bit or made me respect what i had between my legs. Like when i first rode the bike. Catwalk at over 100kms seems to be a bit forced now, higher rpms. Stage 3
Posted by Richard Garp on 21st Sep 2020
Purchased the Stage 3 kit a couple of weeks ago and have now tested it for approximately 1000 kms. It's such a difference compared to the stock bike! Feels like a new bike rather than just an upgraded air box. The engine runs so much smoother and pick up revs instantly. I definitely recommend everyone to invest in this ASAP. Build quality is absolutely excellent and the fitting is 100% on my 2015 1050 Adventure. The sound is of course much louder than original, but who doesn't like that. It's quite silent on low revs though, so you can pass by the police (if you use it on roads...)

I sold my 07 Aprilia Tuono to get the 1290 and I was very sad. The engine, sound, and power delivery was just special on that bike. I occasionally missed my Italian sport bike prior to receiving this kit, but I now have zero regrets switching to the KTM. The power delivery is so smooth and my confidence is much higher. I no longer miss my Aprilia.
Posted by Cole Noreen on 2nd Aug 2020
I want to start with my satisfaction. This is an amazing quality product that does noticeably increase power. It also increases the intake sound which is absolutely amazing. But you can't just get the intake / Stage 1.
You simply need more than what the Stage 1 or Stage 2 kits offer. If you only get the Stage 1 ( Only Intake). If you get the Stage 2 kit that comes with another "Velocity Stack" which is a shorter, more tuned stack off of one of your throttle bodies that actually allows the intake to be installed as the OEM rear stack needs to be cut in order to clamp the Intake down. Stage 3 then comes with the "fuel dongles" that bypass the O2 sensors in order to achieve the correct fuel / air ratio with the given increased airflow which actually allows the new intake to deliver more power.
But then there's the SAS issue. There's an SAS system that pumps air from the stock airbox into the exhaust for emissions. By only buying the Stage 3 you also need a 5/8" pod air filter for the SAS system. You could purchase the SAS delete kit, but that's more $$ that you find out you wish you would have spend in order to get the whole upgrade done in one fell swoop.
This kit is amazing. My front tire has issues staying down more now because of it. Just get the Stage 3 kit with a 5/8" pod filter and get it done in one night, not a week.
I also want to give credit to Rottweiler Performance as every time I reached out to them I had a very quick, and professional experience and the information displayed on their website seems to be absolutely true. The Intake, Fuel Dongles, and Tuned Velocity Stack all seem like extremely high quality aftermarket products causing no detriment to the longevity of the bike.

wow what a difference !! complete personality change , way more responsive and feels like it pulls stronger all the way through from idle up ! loud intake noise though that would be the only drawback possibly I see thus far but a small price to pay in all

Straight forward installation and easy to use. Installed with the Arrow headers, PCV and Auto Tune. No codes or issues out of the box on a 2017 KTM SAR.

Very High Quality products! Easy installation. Performance gains are Excellent! Thanks Rotwieller for the Great Work!

This upgrade is just what all big twins need. The airbox is great quality and the fitment was spot on. Removing all the tubes & emission has greatly improved the 'cleanliness' of the bike which is always nice. I would highly recommend this to all who have KTM.

1290 SAS that’s dialed in like a well tuned track bike. Stage 6 with an Arrow header. Two and a half months, 7,000 miles, and not a single problem. The 1290 is a great motor to start with and this is the best I’ve ever had a road bike run and respond. I’ve had many road bikes, many brands, and have worked on everyone of them. Thank you.
Posted by k on 9th Aug 2019
A bit louder under load but nothing to be bothered by...especially as you’ll be smiling from all the extra power! Much better feel in low rpm range. Well designed with great instruction; a bargain when considering the benefits!
Posted by MSW on 9th Jul 2019
Very well designed kit, the intake sound is dramatically louder under load(FYI) idle & throttle response is smoother through the Rpm range, noticeable power increase and works as advertised.
very good upgrade for the $.
Posted by Steve Herr on 7th May 2019
After doing the stage 3 intake and SAS removal to my 1290 SAR, the bike ran smoother right off the bottom. I was mainly looking for a reliable air filter more than anything but also noticed power gains from bottom to top. Wheelies are easier in 3rd gear now. Before the bike was unhappy in 6th gear down around 55-60 mph, but now there is no problem and smooth with plenty of power to pull without down shifting... or go full hooligan drop to 2nd and 3rd and wheelie or slide out of every corner. Oh ya and the sound is addictive. Cruising you dont notice it but at full throttle I can barely hear my arrow exhaust anymore. I'm happy with the purchase

I have a 1190r have done all the mods Rottweiler sells was very impressed with the gains did not notice as much(due to slowly buying the upgrades)till I started to build a 1090 for my son and rode the two bikes like night and day. Have also called for help on a few things and the guys are super helpful just a great company very happy

First let me begin with, if I could rate higher than 5 stars, I would easily. I (after bugging Chris and others at Rottweiler with questions), ordered the Stage 3 system, with the extra velocity stack and dongles, Full SAS and can removal. To say there was a difference would be an understatement. As I am a research type guy, it didnt take long to figure out that the Rottweiler systems are the best on the market for your KTMs for a reason. Directions were straight forward, and the installations very smooth. I did call during the tygon hose addition (just to make sure I didnt mess anything up), and recieved quick and efficient help to keep moving forward.
Bike performance was immediate, smoothed out the entire bottom end, created a smoother and effortless throttle response, and overall more aggressive and performance based feel.
I definately recommend getting the NO TOIL sets and extra prescreens for filters. I run alot of gravel and dirt trails, constantly eating and getting coated in dust, and when doing my checks, have never had the intakes cleaner. Is definately a testament to the folks doing the engineering at Rottweiler.
As Im from Edmonton, Alberta Canada, Im not exactly next door to the Rottweiler shop, and yet everytime Ive called (which is probably too often..lol..), have always been treated like I was there, professionally, friendly, and definately sorting me out into the right direction. Im looking forward to calling as I get ready to add the PCV, tuner, header and switch....am so excited!!
Lastly as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, was pleasently surprised, and appreciated the coverage and discount applied as a serving military member. I will always be a repeat customer amd stalwart supporter for Rottweiler Performance. They are truely the company to lean on when adding to your KTM, on either side of the border, or around the world as far as Im concerned.
These folks there are "Ready to Race"...Thanks to all the Rottweiler family for the continued help and support to my 1190R here in Canada. Look forward to the next order!!
