About the 'add on' options available on this page: We regularly receive phone calls asking, "Is there anything I might be missing or would want to add to my order that I may not know about?". To better answer this question and make your item selection process as smooth and easy as possible, we have added all of the 'add on' options pertinent to this kit right on one page for convenience. Below we will explain what they mean and hot links are provided to navigate you to a page with even more information. These options are available for the purposes of designing your own kit around your desired outcome and budget but can also be purchased separately.
(Option 1) Super Duke 1290 Stage Kit: This will select your intake kit stage level. See descriptions above. Only the 'Stage 1' kit requires trimming the rear velocity stack by 20 millimeters. While this works quite well for power and use, our Stage 2 option includes a more optimal TVS-80-59 billet velocity stack which is a 'Tuned' bell-mouth replacement. This would be considered by tuning engineers as a more 'proper' setup for maximizing air flow and power outputs. These can also be purchased separately if the user prefers to tune with velocity stack lengths front and rear. See dyno chart(s).
(Option 2) Comments If you have chosen STAGE 4-6, you can ask us to set up the units for you for free, an exclusive from Rottweiler Performance. This means loading maps (STAGE 4), setting up Auto Tune (SATGE 5-AT), setting up the proper ignition advance (STAGE 5-IM) or setting up everything (STAGE 6). If you don't know, let us know and if we need to contact you to discuss your options, we will.
(Option 3) Add a Second TVS-80-59 Velocity Stack: The Stage 2 and up Rottweiler Intake Kits come with one TVS-80-59 billet velocity stack for filter fitment and performance purposes. A second TVS-80-59 Tuned Velocity Stack will produce about 2 more horsepower across the RPM range and about 5 more near redline simply dropped in. If you would like to learn more about velocity stacks, see this page. An additional TVS-80-59 Velocity Stack can be added in the options below if desired.
(Option 4) Add an SAS/Canister Removal Kit: This is the first thing almost every customer does when building their performance packages. See our SAS Stage Kits to learn more. If you are installing an intake system and would like to retain the emissions systems, skip this option and you will need to install a small breather filter where the SAS valve drew air from the stock air-box available here.
(Option 5) Adding a Dynojet map switch to stage 4 and above will allow for dual maps or to toggle Auto Tune on or off: With the addition of a Powercommander V, adding a map switch will allow for the use of two totally separate fuel maps that can be toggled back and forth with this switch while the bike is running. If using Auto Tune, this switch is no longer allowed for dual maps (Auto Tune will just keep trying to correct them) and is re-purposed to turn Auto Tune on or off which can be useful for different reasons. (Option 6) Stage 3 and up will disable the stock narrow band O2s. Would you like a pair of 12mm O2 plugs so you can remove them?: The stock narrow band O2's (the things that look like spark plugs in your exhaust tubes) are unplugged from stage 3 and up and no longer serve any purpose. They can be kept on the bike or swapped out with these O2 plugs for a cleaner look. Learn more.
(Option 7) Would you like to add a No Toil maintenance kit? (2-3 oilings/cleanings): These do not come pre oiled for international shipping purposes. We recommend any name brand biodegradable oil designed for foam. If you have some, great. If not, you may easily add some here. Learn more.

Installed intake with both 80mm stacks , fueling dongles and o2 sensor blockoffs, change in bike is amazing! More linear power delivery, smoother at lower rpm, bike just feels happier! You et much better top end than before, bike should have came like this from the factory! Whoever buys SDR, this has to be 1st mod they do to it, its necessary i have to say! Best money ever spent on this bike!

Le dongle du remove canister kit que j'ai commandé était pas le bon que j'ai recu, jai donc contacter le support, et 1semaine plutard j'avais le bon dongle en main, service A1. Aucune lumiere de noel dans le dash,
Le son de cet intake ! WOW ! J'ai installé fièrement le sticker ROTWEILLER sur mon 1290 duke gen2 !

Installed intake with new velocity stacks, and did the hoses (separate review), SAS removal, oxygen bungs, and power commander at the same time. Directions for the Super Duke are less clear than for the adventure bikes (there are some variances), but a little digging on youtube finally found a pic of where the plastic shield goes (lower than I thought). Everything else went very smoothly, honestly the most complicated part is probably propping up the tank with a tennis ball to reconnect the high pressure line and fuel pump. Once connected and put back together, cranked right up, no warning lights, and ran like a sewing machine. Much like the adventure bikes, this set up really seems to improve fueling, throttle response, and smooth out any low-throttle jerkiness inherent in the KTM tuning. Very happy with this, overall a big improvement, and well worth the cost and effort.

This is the first time I buy & install an Air intake asm on one of my motorcycles . This system is top notch with Simone enough instructions to get the installation done with a few hours . The dust plate had to be cut slightly at the left side in order to sit flush below the air box that’s about the only issue I faced . I have a suggestion please add the male plugs to the OEM o2 sensors as a component off the stage 2 kit . I had to order these separate when I was told they were needed & I paid extra shipping to get it over night & UPS cane they & delivered it by 11 am . I can’t thank Rott Performance enough

I wasn’t expecting the leap in performance. The sound!, the low and mid range power! Completely transformed the bike! I still can’t believe the change just from the sas elimination and charcoal canister delete. Then the O2 sensor plugs and rotti intake lets it breathe so much more. I can’t tell people enough with a 1290 r, you must do this mod!!!!

I have no mechanical skills and even I was able to install this kit ! I got the stage 2 (with an extra stack) with the stage 3 SAS delete. Power felt a lot smoother ! Love Rottweiler products !

First things first: the pre-sale process. Will has been terrific and very kind, guiding me thru the buying choices.
I went for a Stage4 w/ 2x 59mm velocity stacks and decat w/ESE (plus SAS/canister removal) for my 1290GT. My fear was that all the increase would be in the hi end of the revs range. But at the first ride after installing the whole kit, holy cow, the results were awesome, jaw dropping… Let aside the roaring sound, it's unbelievable how the bike gained personality, increased in reactiveness, and surprisingly the torque seems kicking in even at lower rpm. Man, the final result is way off the chain: if I were told that that's would the deal I wouldn't believe it. A true game changer, totally rad. Endless kudos to the Rottweiler team!

Two years ago I bought the stage 4 kit for my '15 SDR, and I instantly fell in love with the product on the first ride. That bike sold with all parts still installed, so it was time to buy this gnarly system once again for my '17 SDR with the addition of the auto tuner. If I wasn't impressed enough before, now with the auto tuner, I never have a question of running too lean or rich as I go in the mountains and back to sea level. The fit and finish that Rottweiler produces time and again is second to none! The snarl as you crack open the throttle is almost intimidating to the feint of heart. If you looking for the best for your KTM, look no further. The only thing you will regret is that you waited to install this sooner.

I rarely leave review, but when I do its because the company has gone above and beyond my expectation. I have a 2017 SDR (dream bike) and after many conversation with Chris I pulled the trigger on their Stage 6. Stage 6 should be renamed "STAGE BADASS" because frankly that what its turn an already great bike into a badass one. I'm visual learner so their video's on installation where a tremendous help. After the installation was complete and initial ride down, I couldn't get the smile off my face, it's a whole new monster. I can't thank Chris and his team enough for the professional and personal attention I was given, I truly felt they cared about my bike and my dreams for it. ROTTWEILER PERFORMANCE is the BEST.

2015 Superduke 1290 with cat delete Remus mid pope, Rottweiler SAS delete and annitori quickshifter. I was cleaning my stock air filter and found both a good deal of grime as well as a whole fly ion my intake butterfly valve...!! I installed the straight forward Rottweiler stage 3 intake in less than one hour, the most difficult part was getting the air filter oiled..takes some practice to properly saturate, especially when you didn’t get the no toil oil with a sprayer..had to hand apply.. Took the bike out after install, and really didn’t notice any difference, that is until I grabbed a serious handful of throttle.. The sound is unreal, but the power difference is downright shocking..! Racing my biddies R1 crossplane yesterday two things were apparent. First, my bike began to rival his in terms of sound, and secondly, he doesn’t have the speed advantage anymore..tested at a 50mph rolling start.. If ridden at normal pace the motor is the same gentle creature as before, but stomp on it and scary, explosive power hits so quick that it’s hard to prepare for. Fueling dongles smoothed out low rpm stuttering making embarrassing stalls nonexistent..well worth the extra money. In summary, I will not need to look any further on ways to improve power output on my bike. Install this and consider it good, anymore power and the bike would be uncontrollable..IMO.

Have been riding the superduke for 2 years and what a awesome bike. Going into the 3rd season with the superduke and decided to upgrade the air intake and only wish I would have installed it sooner. Thanks for the great product Rottweiler

Replacement of KTM garbage box with this air cleaner along with Rotty's velocity stacks made my SDGT a completely different bike. You thought it was bad, install this kit and you won't believe the difference. It convinced me to go all out and got cannister removal kit and a Power Commander. My bike is insane.

According to the book Tuning For Performance you can't feel less than a 10% increase in power . If that is true then the air box is increasing power more than 10% because you will feel more power.

A few months with the Stage 3 kit with the extra velocity stack on my 2016 1290r and I am ready to leave my review.
The SOUND is unreal. Its not like an exhaust note that is behind you.. this is under your chest, inside your chest, up your nose vibrating your nasal cavity. It truly sounds like a beast now. I do have sensitive ears so I wear earplugs all the time when riding and I can still feel pressure on my ears from the intake noise. Its insane!
The fueling dongles made a big difference to cruise areas and funny enough I actually was having flame out issues with the bike where it had shut off on me two or three times at low rpms when clutching. That problem has been totally solved by this kit. I also haven't noticed any difference in fuel economy.
It definitely helps up top power wise but its hard to tell exactly how much. I still have the stock cat so I imagine if I had a full akra exhaust and a power commander I would have some serious gains up top. But the mid range torque and instant on throttle torque is totally nuts. Cracking on the throttle at about 4k is insane, I literally slid back and the pillion seat hit me in the ass unexpectedly and kinda hurt lol.
Do I recommend it? Yes. The sound legit makes it worth it if nothing else. But the extra power, torque and quite frankly insane throttle response. Yes yes triple yes.

Got the stage 2.with the extra 80 velocity stack. With the online video very easy install. Amazing the 1300cc bike is so restricted bij the std airbox... as every factory bike these days. This deff solved that problem and can suck air all over.love the looks to bad ye cant see it..

Even with my factory cat and new exhaust flapper valve in place, the Rottweiler Intake System (along with their Fueling Dongles) transformed my '17 1290 Superduke into a deep-breathing, well-fueled BEAST with more power, much better throttle response and a very smooth engine! There is also noticeably more torque available throughout the power band. Blip the throttle and it barks like a full-race engine plus installation was easy following Rottweiler's instructions and videos. Install one...you'll love it because they work. Really............

I had the Stage 5 kit installed with every performance upgrade, worth every penny!! The power and torque gain is 1000% noticeable. If someone asked me to describe my SuperDuke 1290 R with the Stage 5 intake with one word, it would be "Violent" but in a good way!! No bike hits like a Big Twin!!! I Bleed Orange!! Thanks to the company Rottweiler performance, you are doing a really good and quality tuning. After installation Intake stage 3+ Velocity Stack 80*40, my super duke 1290r 2014 got such a rush of power that I could not even think about, and also the sound of the exhaust and engine performance changed. Purchased the air intake and installed Stage 3 with a Power commander and Barker Brothers DeCat exhaust Already installed and SAS removed. Very easy installation. Put it on a new Dynojet and got 3 honest HP and 3 lbs of torque. It runs smooth all the way to Redline. No popping or back fire on hard deceleration. No hestitation in recommending this product. Also great customer service when talking to Reps. ITS A SNARLING BEAST NOW!

Top quality and fit, make sure you read the instructions or you might miss some small details like I did. Easy to install and plastic guard fit easily even though some said they had problems on forums. Make sure your filter is not over oiled or you will get some dribbles over your wiring and engine. Great product and had really opened it up.

1290 SDR: I have installed Rottweiler Intake performance (with 2 TVS-80 Tuned Velocity Stack), fueling dongle, and did the SAS (+ canister) removal. I have also a slip-on SCProject. I was already in love with my bike before, but with the new intake, love has become passion! The bike is smooth at low RPM, no more popping deceleration sounds like I had before (although I kinda liked it), and when you twist the throttle ... WOW! It was actually hard to keep the front wheel (firmly) on the ground WFO 3rd gear and even 4th WITH TRACTION CONTROL ON. This was a quick test ride just after installation, but I can't wait to do track day when spring come (being on East coast, I am currently hibernating keeping my bike and my body in the warmth of my home/garage. lol). To any 1290 SDR proud owner, go for it, you won't be disappointed.

I have been reading the many positive reviews regarding the Rottweiler Intake System and decided to add it to my upgrade list. I also opted to get the extra Velocity Stack with my system. I recently had the Full Akrapovic Ti Exhaust system installed on my bike and just knew the Rottweiler would take it to the next level. I had a local performance shop install the Airbox for me while they were installing my Rapid Bike Evo Fuel Module. Words cannot describe the level of performance improvement!! And it makes the most delightful inductive roar sound ever!!! When I unpacked and inspected the kit before handing it over the shop for installation it was of outstanding quality. The tech that installed it tells me the installation was very straight forward which is consistent with the "how to" video on Rottweilers Website. I would be totally comfortable with installing this system myself if it was necessary. I have so far have put about 600 miles on the bike and I am beyond pleased. I wish I had more hands so I could give it 4 thumbs up!!!

Just installing the intake with the TVS-80 stacks increased hp NOTICEABLY!!! I couldn't be happier. The debris plate is a nice touch & was easy to install. I love how it deflects the hot air from the radiator. Well done!

This product is one of the best choices I made for my SD1290. I have no idea what the KTM engineer was thinking about when he designed that monstrosity of an air intake. Thank the gods of awesomeness that Rottweiler Performance designed the holy grail of intakes. This thing took my little Duke and in a few minutes of install turned it into one of the meanest sounding Super Dukes around. You twist the throttle and it sounds like it is going to suck you pants off. Thank you Rottweiler Performance for designing this. Two thumbs way up.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this intake. Everything seems to highly engineered and top notch kit. Especially the Velocity Stacks. Truly a thing of beauty. Install was a lot easier than I thought it would be. It’s pretty much straight forward. The deflector shield was a little tricky but since it’s bendable it went in pretty quick.
I love the intake growl. It sounds amazing. And wheelies through the first 3 gears are even easier!

Getting the complete package is well worth it. When combined with the SAS removal and a de-cat exhaust, your SD will be smoother, faster, (and most suprisingly to me) much more streetable in the low revs. Get it!

Updating your stock intake system to this great product is the best thing you can do to your Super Duke R 1290. Airflow ingreases and so does the performance. Dynojet Powercommander V is a great buy when you want to take it to the max.

Even if this intake didn't boost performance, it's worth the improvement over stock for filtering efficiency since the stock unit is notorious for leaking. KTM really dropped the ball on the stock airbox/filter.

I purchased the Stage 3 Intake Kit (I already had an exhaust and link pipe) and would highly recommend that any SD 1290 owner do the same: improved mid-range that is noticeable, *ballistic* power at wide open throttle, and cured the steady throttle engine surging issue that my stock bike had. I used the Power commander map from the Rottweiler website, I have not done a custom tune yet. Also, the install wasn't too difficult; the videos on the Rottweiler site are very helpful. Great customer support. All in all, a great experience!

Installed the stage 3 airbox/SAS eliminator,airbox, and both 80mm stacks. Along with some exhaust mods and aftermarket tuning, I finally have a fire breathing engine that is even smoother than factory stock. If you are willing to research the 1290, you can actually choose components to increase HP/torque while at the same time, make the engine smoother.

Shipping was really fast, quality made product, performance gains were a huge plus. However, I was a little disappointed that no installation instructions were provided with the kit, they provide them with the SAS delete and fueling dongle kit. The install was by no means difficult but it just took longer to make sure everything was installed in the right place. Still cant figure out the exact placement of the shield. In the end, still a happy customer.

Excellent mod - highly recommended. Simple install, cleans up the bottom end dramatically. Induction noise is brilliant, makes you feel more connected with the motor. Improves dust collection as the stock filter is a joke.
